Terrance Cottrell Jr

Terrance Cottrell Jr., who died during an exorcism (source).

Some people, most notably Defeat Autism Now[1] and the National Autism Association, have attempted to exorcise autistic children, with no reported positive results.

Since exorcism is supposed to rid a person of demons, one wonders if perhaps the children claimed as cured by the process were actually suffering from some other mental health condition and not autism. There is no proof of any genuine possession by demons except in religious legend and myth.

Deaths[]

It is wise to note that children not cured by this process are usually killed by it.[2]Victims include eight-year-old Terrance Cottrell Jr., who died of suffocation while restrained and wrapped in sheets.[3][4]
