Matthew "Matt" Savage (born 1992) is an autistic savant with excellent musical abilities. He was born in Sudbury, Massachusetts, and her parents are Diane and Lawrence "Larry" Savage. He learnt to walk very early, and by the time he was eighteen months old, he started reading. At the age of three, he was diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder, a form of autism. Over the years, he became an accomplished musician and musical composer. Some of the highlights of his early accomplishments include:

  • In the year 2000, when he was hardly 8 years old, Matt Savage played piano for Dave Brubeck. Next year, he jammed with McCoy McCoy Tyner and his sidemen, Avery Sharpe and Al Foster.
  • In 2003 while he was only 11 years old, he debuted at Blue Note in Manhatt, at the age of 11, Matt debuted at the famed Blue Note (Manhattan, New York), and in 2004, he debuted at Birdland, performing with Clark Terry (on trumpet), Jimmy Heath (on sax), Jon Faddis (on trumpet).
  • By the year 2005, He had performed twice with Chaka Khan.

Bobby Watson, a noted figure of the world of jazz had once remarked about Matt Savage: "Besides being an extremely gifted pianist and improviser, Matt has the musical instincts of a person many years older. To me this is the most incredible characteristic about Matt.‡"[1]
